Making Masks for healthcare providers |
Margaret Neighbors and Lisa Therrell share a way we can all help out right now! Sewing cotton face masks for Cascade Medical Center using the instructions on the link below. Bruce Williams, who is on the hospital board, posted this to the Leavenworth WA Facebook page. They can be dropped off by pulling up at the drive-through entrance and calling 548-5815 for a staff member to pick them up from you.
The idea is that staff who aren't doctors/nurses can be using these, even though they don't meet the N-95 standard. They are designed to also be worn over a N-95 mask.

Ann Hinz shared on 3/26/20, If people are able to make face masks for the medical folks, Lynn Reppas at the quilt shop next to Preys fruit store, is coordinating this effort. People can pick up the pattern and the materials at the quilt store and then bring them back there. Lynn is coordinating with the health department to get them dispersed to where they are needed

Community Cupboard
Hello everyone, Bob here with Upper Valley MEND (the Community Cupboard food bank manager.
Click here to go to the COMMUNITY CUPBOARD website.
You may know that the Community Cupboard will now be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 5 PM so that people can come by to receive a food box via curbside pickup. We also recognize that, for a variety of reasons, people aren’t able to leave their homes to come and get food, so we’d like to be able to provide for their food needs as well. We’ll be changing the voicemail options on our phones at both the UV MEND offices (509-548-0408) as well as the Community Cupboard (509-548-6727) so that people can leave a message requesting a food box delivery.
I’ll be setting something up online where I can add information about food box delivery needs, and folks that are willing/able to make deliveries can go in and choose a delivery option. I’ll probably just include some general information about where they live (Blewett Pass, Chumstick highway, Dryden, Peshastin, Leavenworth city limits, etc.) and the more specific information (address, phone number) will be on the box at the time of pickup. Our service area is the Cascade School District so it could be anywhere in that radius. You might choose to deliver to someone that lives nearby or simply choose whatever fits your schedule.
We’ll do our best to meet peoples’ specific food needs. We are currently using a menu option of sorts a the food bank whereby people tick off the particular items they would like in their box. We’ll try to do that as best we can with food deliveries as well, through phone conversations. We’ll put the food boxes together on the mornings before the food bank opens (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), starting around 10 AM or so. Pickups for food box deliveries would then be scheduled between 10:30 and 11:00 AM on those days. We’ll have the boxes ready to go, waiting outside the Community Cupboard for someone to come and pick up/deliver.
I hope this all makes sense. We’re figuring this out as we go so please let me know if you have any questions/concerns/clarifications/etc. For those of you that have expressed an interest in volunteering in some capacity, this is the most relevant volunteer opportunity at the moment. So, just let me know if you are interested in providing food deliveries (a phone number to go along with name and email would be great) and I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as things come together.
Thanks everyone, Bob
